If you saw "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story", you know that CGI has come a long way. So far in fact that they actually raised a man from the dead and made him part of the movie. However, in Carrie Fisher's case, she will not be in the "Star Wars 9" by way of CGI. It will actually be HER!
What is this sorcery I speak of? Well, it's not actually sorcery at all. Rather, it's the result of Hollywood taking extra footage and getting some use out of it when in all reality, it was probably just going to wind up on the cutting room floor.
Carrie had already finished shooting all of her scenes for "Star Wars 8". So, her brother Todd and her daughter Billie Lourde have given Lucasfilm permission to use footage that was already shot. We're guessing they will be repurposing footage from SW8 and putting it into SW9.
Todd says, quote, "Both of us were like, 'Yes, how do you take her out of it?' And the answer is, you don't . . . I think the people deserve to have her. She's owned by them."
The timing of this story couldn't have been better. It was announced this morning that the trailer for "Star Wars 8: The Last Jedi" will be released later this week at the annual Star Wars Celebration and will have more of a FULL trailer feel as opposed to just a teaser.
